Covid Testing for Spring Athletics
Governor Whitmer announced that beginning April 1, middle and high school athletes will be required to have rapid antigen testing weekly in order continue participation in sports.
It is our understanding, that similar with wrestling and football, MHSAA will supply schools with the necessary rapid antigen testing to execute this plan. However, due to the nature of the antigen test and the potential for false positives, every child with a positive test will need to be followed up with the more reliable PCR test and will be excluded from participation until results are known. If the PCR is negative, the athlete will be allowed to return to play.
So what do you need to do?
If you have a positive antigen test that needs follow-up PCR testing, call us and we will get you seen and tested as quickly as possible. You may also use our walk-in clinic which has reopened at its previously scheduled hours of 7:30-9am weekdays except Tuesdays 9:15-10:30.
Our negative pressure rooms are up and running and our overall renovation is nearing completion. So be assured we will continue to do everything we can to keep our patients, staff and their families healthy and safe.
And keep an eye on our website and Facebook for the latest updates.
