Click here to view The Handbook of Childhood Illnesses. The Handbook of Childhood Illnesses, written by the physicians and nurses at Forest Hills Pediatric Associates, was developed to give parents a helpful resource for understanding common pediatric illnesses.

Our goal is that parents will use the handbook as a guide to symptoms, medications and supplies, and suggested treatments to childhood illnesses. The handbook is arranged in alphabetical order by the common name of the illness and is written in a language that's straight-forward and easy to understand.

Please remember however that these are only guidelines and should not be taken as a final medical opinion. After you have read about your child's illness and you still feel very uncomfortable, you should give us a call. Most parents' intuition will let them know when to call immediately, but occasionally parents may be unaware of some danger signals.

We do ask that you please check with your handbook before you call as in many cases, it will give you all the information you will need. It is our hope that when parents use the handbook, it will be easier for us to handle the large volume of calls we receive, thus shortening the amount of time you wait to speak with us. If possible, have the book available when you call so we can go over it together, as well as a pen or pencil for adding additional notes.
